The Intel 4004 from 1971 ran at 740 kHz, or 0.00074 GHz. A modern smartphone chip is about 5,000 times faster in clock speed. The 4004 had just 2,300 transistors and was designed for calculators. Still, it was the world's first microprocessor. It kicked off the whole computer revolution.
