Our website is hosted by Vercel. When you call up one of our web pages, your browser therefore establishes a connection to a server of Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. This server stores some information about the connection in a so-called log file. We do not have access to these log files. 5. Analysis tools and advertising
Pirsch Analytics
For web analytics, this website uses Pirsch Analytics. Pirsch Analytics is a cookie-free web analytics software that was developed according to the Privacy by Design principle. To analyze visitor flows, Pirsch Analytics uses a hashing algorithm to generate a 16-digit number as the visitor ID when the page request is received. The input values are the IP address, the user agent, the date and a salt.
The visitor's IP address is not persisted in whole or in part, and is anonymized completely and non-reversibly by the hash. The inclusion of the date and the use of one salt per website ensures that website visitors cannot be recognized for more than 24 hours and cannot be tracked across multiple websites. A rough localization (country/city) is performed via a locally integrated database.
Pirsch Analytics is operated by Pirsch Analytics GmbH, Maximilianstraße 4, 67433 Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany. Servers are located within the European Union. The collected data (anonymized page views, referrer, rough geolocation, device class) is stored on EU infrastructure and used solely to understand traffic patterns and improve the website. Because no cookies are set and no personal data is processed, no consent is required. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in basic, privacy-friendly traffic analysis). Advertising by Mediavine (Journey)
We display advertising on this website through Journey by Mediavine, an advertising service provided by Mediavine, Inc., 8 The Green, #20971, Dover, DE 19901, USA ("Mediavine"). Advertising allows us to keep Quiztimate free to use.
Mediavine and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to deliver, personalize and measure ads and to prevent fraud. The data processed includes in particular your IP address, device and browser information, online and advertising identifiers, the pages you view and your interactions with ads, and your approximate location. With your consent, this data may be used to show interest-based advertising. Data may be transferred to the United States and other third countries; for these transfers Mediavine relies on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
Consent is obtained through Mediavine's own consent management platform (CMP), which implements the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework and is shown on your first visit to a page with advertising. There you can accept or reject the individual purposes and advertising partners. The legal basis is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time with effect for the future via the "Update Privacy Settings" link at the bottom of every page, which reopens the Mediavine CMP, by deleting the cookies in your browser, or by writing to privacy@mediavine.com. Google Analytics 4
With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). We use it to measure how many people visit Quiztimate and which pages they view, so that we can document our reach to advertising partners. Our primary, cookie-free analytics tool remains Pirsch Analytics (see above).
Google Analytics uses cookies that allow your use of this website to be analyzed. The data processed includes in particular the pages you view, the time and duration of your visit, browser and device information, the referring website, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. IP anonymization is enabled: your IP address is shortened within the European Union or the European Economic Area before it is stored, so that it can no longer be attributed to you. Data may also be transferred to servers of Google LLC in the United States, for which Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
The legal basis is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG, given via the Mediavine CMP described above (statistics and measurement purposes and the vendor Google). Google Analytics is only loaded after you have consented. Before that, no connection to Google Analytics is established. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via "Update Privacy Settings" at the bottom of every page. Google Analytics then stops collecting data. Data is retained for at most 14 months. More information is available in the Google Privacy Policy.
Cookies and consent management
We use only the cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate this website, plus optional cookies used by Google Analytics to measure visitor numbers and, on pages with advertising, by Mediavine and its partners to display and measure ads. Strictly necessary cookies (for example to remember your language choice, your theme preference, or your consent decision in the Mediavine CMP) do not require consent and are stored on the legal basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.
Consent for all optional cookies, for statistics as well as for advertising, is managed solely by the Mediavine CMP described above; until you consent, Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change or withdraw your decision at any time via "Update Privacy Settings" at the bottom of every page. Most browsers also allow you to delete existing cookies and to refuse the storage of new cookies via your browser settings.
Storage duration depends on the cookie type. Strictly necessary cookies are typically kept between one session and twelve months. The storage period of advertising cookies is set by Mediavine and its partners and is shown per partner in the Mediavine CMP. The exact list, purpose, and duration of cookies actually set can be inspected in your browser's developer tools.
