About Quiztimate

What is Quiztimate?

Quiztimate is an estimation and knowledge game for people who love a good aha moment. Over 1,200 hand-curated questions from nine topic areas are waiting for you to estimate, guess, or just take a wild swing. How many islands does Greece have? How fast can a penguin swim? When did Wikipedia go online? Quiztimate is built for road trips, family nights, coffee breaks at the office, and lazy hangouts on the sofa. Every question has a real, researched answer and often comes with a fact that sticks. Play solo, in a pair, or with a whole group. No account, no app, no subscription. You click on Play and you are in.

The idea behind it

Classic trivia quizzes are often binary. You know the answer or you do not. That is boring. Quiztimate flips that around. With estimation questions everyone can join in, because nobody knows the exact answer. The kid at the table has the same shot as the geography teacher. A good estimation question rewards gut feeling, experience, and a touch of logic. A good fact question surprises with answers that are counterintuitive. A good place question leaves grown-ups and kids equally puzzled about where something actually sits on the map. That is the bar for every single question on the site: a small aha moment that makes your game night better.

How does the game work?

Quiztimate is intentionally simple. You pick a category or play across all of them, you get a question, you make your guess, and then you tap on Show answer. The real answer appears, often with a short bit of context so you do not just get a number but also understand why it is interesting. The game runs right in the browser, on a phone just as well as on a laptop. You can switch between English and German. You can keep score yourself or just skip the points entirely. Whatever fits your evening.

Who is behind it?

My name is Leon Eikmeier. I live in Vlotho in eastern Westphalia, Germany, and I work as a product person under the name MetaOne. Quiztimate is my side project and also the collection of estimation questions I always wanted for myself. Every question goes through its own quality check, every answer is verified. If you still spot a mistake or miss a question, I am always happy to hear from you.
