What is the current USB standard?

USB4 Version 2.0

Background

USB4 Version 2.0 has been the current USB standard since 2022. It can transfer up to 80 Gbps. That's enough for 8K displays or external graphics cards. The first devices with USB4 v2 came out in 2025. The new standard is backward compatible. That means all older USB devices still work.
