How many satellites does SpaceX's Starlink project include?

Background

SpaceX has launched over 11,700 Starlink satellites by April 2026. About 10,000 of them are currently active. The rest have been deorbited or have failed. Starlink is the largest satellite network in history. For comparison: before the project launched in 2019, there were only around 2,000 active satellites worldwide. The final constellation is planned to include up to 42,000 satellites.
