Usain Bolt ran the 100 meters in 9.58 seconds. He set the world record in Berlin in 2009. That is close to 45 km/h at top speed. Bolt stood 1.95 meters tall and took only 41 strides. Since then nobody has come closer than 9.69 seconds.
