Which famous composer was already deaf when he wrote his last symphony?

Background
Beethoven slowly started losing his hearing at age 26. When he wrote his famous 9th Symphony, he was almost completely deaf. At the 1824 premiere he stood in front of the orchestra himself. When the piece ended, a singer had to turn him around so he could see the applause.
