Which building was the tallest in the world for 3,800 years?

The Great Pyramid of Giza

Background

The Great Pyramid of Giza was the tallest structure in the world for an unbelievably long time at 146 meters. It held the record for a full 3,800 years. Only in 1311 did Lincoln Cathedral in England overtake it. Its spire later collapsed, briefly making the pyramid the tallest again.
