How many spectators fit in the Roman Colosseum?

About 50,000

Background

The Colosseum in Rome had room for around 50,000 people. That made it as big as a modern football stadium. Spectators watched fights between gladiators or animals. Entry was actually free, the emperor paid for it. There was even a huge tent roof to block the sun.
