How many rings are in the Olympic symbol?

5 rings

Background

The Olympic symbol shows five colored rings linking together. They stand for the five inhabited continents: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Pierre de Coubertin designed the symbol in 1913. The colors were chosen so every national flag shares at least one of them.
