Three great pyramids stand in Giza near Cairo. They are called Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, after the pharaohs who built them. Smaller pyramids and the famous Sphinx are nearby. The largest pyramid is over 4,500 years old and was long the tallest building in the world.
