How many people were convicted in the Salem witch trials?

20 people executed

Background

In Salem, in today's US state of Massachusetts, many people were accused of witchcraft in 1692. Twenty of them were executed, most by hanging. One man was even pressed to death with heavy stones. Today this is seen as a huge injustice. There were no real witches at all.
