Background

The German artist John Heartfield invented political photomontage. He glued photos together to mock the Nazis. One famous image shows Hitler with an X-ray full of gold coins in his belly. The Nazis wanted to arrest him, so he fled to Prague and London. His real name was Helmut Herzfeld.
